Job summary

Workfast is seeking two reliable Production Workers to join a leading manufacturer in Wagga, specialising in concrete sleepers. You will assist in producing sleepers, operate fixed plant machinery with on‑the‑job training, and perform general labour tasks in a safety-focused environment.

The role offers $38.70 per hour plus penalties and superannuation, with a temp to perm pathway and long-term career prospects within a nationally significant project.

Qualifications

• Reasonable level of physical fitness – role is hands-on and physically demanding.
• Reliability is essential – must be able to attend every day.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
• Previous labouring, construction or manufacturing experience is highly regarded.
• Forklift licence is an advantage but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist in production of concrete sleepers by preparing and maintaining moulds, cleaning, scraping, and applying lubricants.
• Operate fixed plant machinery (training provided) to support the concrete pouring process.
• Perform manual tasks including lifting, shovelling, and sweeping.
• Install fittings on sleepers and assist with quality control testing (cylinders, slump tests).
• Work to safety and production standards in a physically demanding environment.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.

What You Will Be Doing

• Assist in the production of concrete sleepers by preparing and maintaining moulds, cleaning, scraping, and applying lubricants.
• Operate fixed plant machinery (training provided) to support the concrete pouring process.
• Perform manual labouring tasks including lifting, shovelling, and sweeping.
• Install fittings on sleepers and assist with quality control testing, such as making cylinders and conducting slump tests.
• Work to strict safety and production standards in a physically demanding environment.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.

What You Need

• Reasonable level of physical fitness – this is a hands-on, physically demanding role.
• Reliability is essential – must be committed to attending work every day.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
• Previous labouring, construction, or manufacturing experience is highly regarded.
• Forklift licence is an advantage but not essential.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical (including drug & alcohol screen).
• Current Australian work rights required.
