Job summary

JBS Pork Australia – Farming Team is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead piggery staff at the Pyramid Hill site. The role involves supervising employees, managing day-to-day production, and coordinating livestock movements to meet targets.

The successful candidate will bring Certificate III in Agriculture (Pig Production) and hands-on experience in pig production, plus strong WHS, QA and Animal Welfare knowledge. Flexible hours and driving licence required.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Agriculture (Pig Production) or equivalent.
• Extensive practical experience in holistic pig production.
• Strong supervisory ability and people leadership.
• Knowledge of WHS, QA and People & Culture procedures.
• Knowledge of Animal Welfare regulations.
• Good communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage time and maintain confidentiality.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and maintain up-to-date driving license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day piggery operational tasks.
• Undertake animal husbandry duties with sound judgement.
• Interpret production records and prepare progress reports.
• Lead Piggery staff to meet production targets.
• Coordinate livestock movements between sites and markets.
• Assist rostering and budget preparation as required.
• Ensure Animal Welfare standards are continually met.
• Adhere to APIQ and JBS Pork Australia standards and audits.

About the Role

JBS Pork Australia – Farming Team are currently recruiting a Production Supervisor to support the team at our Pyramid Hill site.

This full-time position will be responsible for supervising production employees and working closely with the Module / Site Manager in regards to the day-to-day management of the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day tasks of piggery employees.
• Undertake animal husbandry duties that require considerable judgement.
• Compile / interpret production records and prepare regular progress reports.
• Provide leadership to Piggery Employees to ensure production targets are achieved.
• Integrate maintenance works within production requirements.
• Coordinate the movement of livestock between sites and for market.
• Manage workload with respect to variations in staffing levels, environmental factors and weather conditions.
• Provide practical advice to employees, peers and management.
• Assist with staff rostering.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets (as required).
• Ensure Animal Welfare standards are adhered to at all times.
• Ensure production processes adhere to APIQ standards and any additional JBS Pork Australia standards as directed.
• Actively participate in both internal and APIQ audits (as required).
• Assume various responsibilities in the Manager’s absence (as directed).
• Ensure annual objectives / KPIs are regularly reviewed and met.
• Contribute to key business activities as required.
• Adhere to all Company policies, procedures, processes and work instructions at all times, and ensure all appropriate actions are taken to implement and monitor at a site level.

Skills & Experience

• Certificate III in Agriculture (Pig Production) as a minimum.
• Thorough understanding of holistic pig production gained through extensive practical experience.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise people effectively.
• Sound knowledge of WH&S, Quality Assurance, and People & Culture procedures.
• Sound knowledge of Animal Welfare regulations.
• High level communication skills, initiative and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to promote a positive workplace culture and willingness to drive continual improvement in workplace processes.
• Effective time management skills.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Preparedness to work flexible hours.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Current driver’s licence.
