Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Shift Manager to oversee all production activities during the shift, ensuring safe and efficient use of staff, equipment, materials and processes. You will provide operational leadership and are accountable for targets in safety, quality, cost, delivery and team engagement.

You will lead and develop the shift team, deliver rostering and timesheet duties, and drive continuous improvement using CI tools.

Qualifications

• 3 - 5 years' experience in the manufacturing industry at a supervisory level.
• Certificate 4 in Competitive Manufacturing or Frontline leadership preferred.
• Lean Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience managing people and teams at all management levels.
• Ability to determine correct actions in absence of direction.
• Training teammates and developing multi-skilling initiatives.
• Solid understanding of CI principles and tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee production activities during the shift to meet targets in safety, quality, cost and delivery.
• Lead, coach and develop the shift team; manage rostering, leave and timesheets.
• Optimise line performance to align with the production schedule.
• Complete shift administration and manage crewing and performance.
• Facilitate problem-solving and plan materials and maintenance needs.
• Ensure safety compliance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage product and process quality, including GMP/HACCP compliance and inspections.
• Minimise waste; assist with root cause analysis of complaints.
• Work with stakeholders on material quality and use CI tools to improve outcomes.
• Control labour and overtime costs to meet budget; manage cost impacts.
