Qualifications

• Competent in using hand tools such as files, vises, hand saws and grinders.

Responsibilities

• Setup, operate and monitor manufacturing equipment according to SOPs.
• Achieve production targets per schedule while maintaining safety and quality.
• Machine setups include insert forming, wire rollers and injection moulders.
• Conduct machined parts testing during setting and operation.
• Provide detailed handovers to incoming/outgoing operators.
• Complete required documentation per SOPs.
• Troubleshoot setup/operational issues or escalate to maintenance.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment with regular housekeeping.
• Assemble hand tools per SOPs and production specs.
• Support continuous improvement activities (3S, 6S, Kaizen).
• Assist in on-the-job training of Production Operators.
• Undertake routine maintenance to ensure machine reliability.
• Notify supervisor of stock shortages and participate in cycle counting.

Responsibilities

Overall purpose of position

To setup production equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure that manufacturing output is achieved safely and within quality specifications.

Key position responsibilities(The duties that must be performed on a regular basis to accomplish the result.):

Key expected position results / outcomes:

Setup, operate and monitor manufacturing equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures. Machine setups includes but is not limited to insert forming machines, wire rollers and injection moulders.

Achieve production targets as stipulated by the production schedule and in accordance with safety and quality standards.

Machined parts testing during setting and operating stages

Ensure detailed handovers are undertaken with incoming/outgoing operators to ensure continued production outputs.

Complete required documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Troubleshoot machine setup and operational issues in a timely manner, or elevate to maintenance where appropriate.

Undertake housekeeping activities to ensure the maintenance of a clean and safe work environment.

Undertake housekeeping activities at regular intervals and at the end of each shift. This includes, but is not limited to, machines, workbenches, floors and storage racks.

Assemble hand tools in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Assemble hand tools in accordance with standard operating procedures and within production output specifications.

Proactively participate in continuous improvement activities to improve manufacturing performance.

Participate constructively in continuous improvement events and contribute initiatives which have the opportunity to improve COGS, safety and quality. Continuous improvement activities include but are not limited to 3S, 6S and Kaizen Events

Assist with on the job training of other Production Operators

Provide assistance in the training of other Production Operators to ensure a competent and multi-skilled workforce.

Undertake routine maintenance activities, in accordance with standard operating procedures, to ensure machine reliability and product quality is maintained.

• Machine maintenance undertaken in accordance with standard operating procedures.

• Non-standard maintenance issues reported in a timely manner.

• Consumables ordered as required

Prepare tooling, such as mandrels and cutters, through the use of hand tools and machinery.

• Tools made in accordance with standard operating procedures.

• Ensure sufficient tooling is maintained at all times, ensuring that stock requirements are communicated in a timely manner.

Perform additional duties, in line with operational requirements, as directed by the Production Supervisor, or appointed delegate.

Additional duties undertaken in accordance with operational requirements.

Ensure stock levels are maintained at established levels

Notify the Supervisor of any stock shortages – both manufactured stock and consumables

Partake in monthly cycle counting, counting stock in the packaging area which is critical to maintain correct quantities as per the system.

Ensure Safety

Report safety incidents, near misses, and potential hazards.

Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines.

Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

Participate in safety training programs directed by Howmet.

Report Environmental incidents, spills, or leaks immediately.

Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials and waste disposal.

Qualifications
A Certificate III in Process Manufacturing is desired.

Experience
The role requires some experience in tool manufacturing or metal fabrication or related field. It also requires mechanical aptitude, with the ability to set both software and mechanical parameters on custom manufacturing machinery. The candidate must also be competent in the use of hand tools, such as a file, vice, hand saw and pedestal grinder.

Technical Knowledge
The candidate must be competent in navigating manufacturing computer systems.
