Job summary

Mermed Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a practical, organised Production Manager to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations in Huntingwood. You will be responsible for ensuring customer orders are produced on time to the required quality, overseeing inventory, and planning production efficiently while supporting a small team.

This role requires hands-on leadership, strong planning, and the ability to use data and KPIs to drive performance.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily and weekly production priorities across production areas.

• Monitor stock levels, cycle counts and discrepancies.
• Coordinate purchasing to ensure materials are available when required.
• Improve throughput, machine utilisation and reduce waste.
• Lead and develop the team with cross-training for critical processes.

We are seeking a practical, organised and improvement-focused Production Manager to lead our day-to-day manufacturing operations. Reporting to the CEO, this is a hands-on management role for someone who enjoys building structure, improving production flow, and helping a small manufacturing team perform consistently. You will be responsible for ensuring customer orders are produced on time to the quality our customers demand, inventory is controlled, production is planned efficiently, and the team has the capability and support required to deliver.

Key responsibilities

Plan and coordinate daily and weekly production priorities across production areas.

Ensure customer orders are produced and supplied on time, with a strong focus on OTIF performance.

Manage replenishment and production scheduling based on demand, stock on hand, and production capacity.

Determine the most appropriate production method and allocate work efficiently across available equipment and production areas.

Monitor inventory levels, stock accuracy, cycle counts, and stock discrepancies.

Coordinate purchasing and ensure raw materials and consumables are available when required.

Improve production throughput, machine utilisation, setup times, and material waste.

Lead, support and build team resilience through cross-training to ensure critical processes have adequate trained coverage.

Maintain clear production standards, procedures and operating disciplines.

Identify root causes of delays, rework, errors and inefficiencies and implement practical improvements.

About you

2-5 years' experience in manufacturing or production environments.

Demonstrated leadership, supervisory or people-coordination experience.

Strong production planning, prioritisation and problem-solving skills.

Comfortable using data and KPIs to manage performance.

Hands-on, accountable and comfortable working closely with the production floor.

Highly Regarded: Pharmaceutical, medical device, food, packaging or other ISO-controlled manufacturing experience.

Highly Regarded: ERP/MRP experience.

Highly Regarded: Lean/continuous improvement experience.

Highly Regarded: Inventory, purchasing or production scheduling experience.

Highly Regarded: Relevant formal management, production, science or business qualification.
