Aero Plastics & Structures in Townsville is seeking a Production Engineer to optimise shop-floor processes across moulding, transparency, trim, sheetmetal and machining teams. Job Description
Positive Thinkers Pty Ltd Aero Plastics and Structures is looking for a Production Engineer to make our processes run better on the shop floor. You'll work closely with production, quality and management to improve efficiency, consistency and compliance across our manufacturing operations. Room to grow your skills in aviation-certified manufacturing The Townsville lifestyle, close to the reef and the outdoors Task & responsibilities Review the structure of our moulding, transparency, trim, sheetmetal and machining teams. Map responsibilities across jobs and product lines, clarify roles, and remove overlapping tasks between work areas.

Time-study key production tasks, such as forming a Twin Otter sidewall panel or finishing a cockpit transparency, and use the data to set realistic labour standards and quoting benchmarks. Study staffing levels, workshop layout, machine use, job costs and the production schedule to find the best balance of people and equipment, cutting lead times and lifting output. Design tooling, moulds, jigs, fixtures and production equipment, as well as new or improved interior components for regional aircraft

Plan new plant and systems for our Garbutt facility. Prepare manufacturing specifications. Select materials, equipment and services (including air, vacuum and heating lines), and plan material flow, capacity and plant layout for new processes and upgrades

Coordinate the people, materials, plant and equipment needed for production projects and equipment installations, keeping export orders and kit builds on schedule. Write and maintain procedures for equipment installation and modification, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance. Make sure they meet engineering best practice, WHS law, CASA approvals, AS/NZS ISO 9001 and FAR 25.853 flammability requirements

Regularly inspect production processes, tooling and plant so that equipment runs reliably and parts stay at certified quality. Qualification & experience Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering, or a related field Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in aerospace, plastics or composites is highly regarded

Working knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001. Exposure to CASA or aviation regulation is a bonus Comfortable with CAD and production documentation Practical and hands-on. You enjoy being on the floor solving real problems
