Job summary

NX Blue is seeking a Production Engineer to lead end‑to‑end engineering projects across Sydney operations. The role involves hands‑on direction of maintenance teams and ensuring regulatory safety compliance.

Candidates with experience in oil, gas, mining, water treatment, cement/bitumen or major hazard facilities are highly encouraged to apply. Based in Sydney, this permanent full‑time position offers day shifts, full PPE, on‑site parking, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical or process engineering.
• 3–5 years’ experience in oil, gas, mining, water treatment, cement/bitumen or MHF industries.
• Hands-on on-site/plant experience directing maintenance teams; vital.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support engineering activities across multiple production facilities.
• Safety/regulatory compliance including HAZOPs and risk assessments.
• Manage end-to-end project delivery including supervision of teams, documentation and EMOC processes.
• Prepare and manage capital expenditure proposals and budgets.
• Investigate incidents and support audits (TGA, ISO, SafeWork NSW).
• Provide troubleshooting assistance to maintenance teams.
• Monthly gas-loss reporting and corrective actions.
• Communicate with Production, Maintenance and stakeholders to meet safety and project outcomes.
• Occasional travel to Wagga Wagga facility.

This role is focused on end‑to‑end, concept to completion engineering projects across operations based in Sydney. This will involve hands‑on direction of maintenance teams, implementation and compliance with regulatory safety procedure.

Candidates who have previously worked in oil, gas, mining, water treatment, cement/bitumen or within a major hazard facility (MHF) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Duties, including but not limited to

What we’re looking for

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical or process engineering
• Minimum 3‑5 years’ experience in oil, gas, mining, water treatment, cement/bitumen & MHF industries
• Hands on site/plant experience in directing maintenance teams (vital)
• Knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis and Australian Standards
• Familiarity with NSW WHS Act 2011 and WHS Regulation 2017
• Cross‑disciplinary knowledge a bonus, not required (e.g., PLCs, electrical systems)
