Job summary

Kids Gourmet Food (KGF) seeks an experienced Chef to step into a hands‑on 2IC role, supporting the Shift Production Supervisor and leading the afternoon production and packaging team. This is a hands-on leadership position in a fast-paced, structured food production environment — Monday to Friday with no weekend work.

Based in Sydney's Northern Beaches at Brookvale, you will motivate the team, allocate staff, keep daily targets in view, and help ensure food produced safely and to standard while

Qualifications

• Has a Trade Qualification in Commercial Cookery.
• Has experience as Chef, Team Leader, Supervisor or similar role.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Experience in high‑volume food production, catering, hospitality or manufacturing.
• Able to stay calm, organised and focused in a busy environment.
• Understands food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements.
• Can safely lift and move items up to 25kg regularly.

Responsibilities

• Motivate and support the production and packaging team.
• Allocate staff across production and packaging stations.
• Keep the team focused and on track to meet daily production targets.
• Solve day‑to‑day production and staffing issues.
• Ensure food is produced safely, consistently and to the required standard.
• Coach and support team members as they learn and develop.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being hands‑on and working as part of a team. You’ll be someone who can lead by example, motivate and support the team, keep production moving and help ensure the afternoon shift runs smoothly from start to finish.

You’ll play an important role in:

Motivating and supporting the production and packaging team.

Allocating staff across production and packaging stations.

Keeping the team focused and on track to meet daily production targets

Solving day‑to‑day production and staffing issues.

Ensuring food is produced safely, consistently and to the required standard.

Coaching and supporting team members as they learn and develop.

Working hands‑on alongside the team.

Finishing up the shift properly and set up ready for the morning team.

We’re looking for someone who:

Has a Trade Qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.

Has previous experience as a Chef, Team Leader, Supervisor or in a similar role.

Has experience in high‑volume food production, catering, hospitality or manufacturing.

Has strong communication and organisational skills.

Can stay calm, organised and focused in a busy environment.

Understands food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements.

Can safely lift and move items of up to 25kg on a regular basis.
