Job description

At Bank Australia, we believe banking can be a force for good. As a customer-owned, B Corp certified bank, we empower our people and more than 340,000 customers to use their money to create positive impact for people and the planet.

We’re looking for an experienced Product Manager – Deposits to join our Collingwood team on a 14-month fixed-term contract. You’ll play a key role in shaping our deposit portfolio, driving strategy, pricing, growth, profitability, governance and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Head of Product – Banking Products, you’ll work with product, pricing, technology and delivery specialists and collaborate across Customer, Marketing, Treasury, Finance, Legal and Compliance to deliver competitive, customer-focused and values-aligned deposit products.

  • We have big plans to become Australia’s most trusted bank and a leading purpose-driven business.
  • As a certified B Corp, we’re part of a global business community who meet the highest social and environmental standards, putting purpose over profit.
  • Every role and person in our bank is essential to bringing our values, purpose and aspiration to life.
  • We offer flexible working options, competitive salary and 14% super.
  • Our staff have access to a range of meaningful benefits to support their physical and mental wellbeing including 24/7 free counselling, free flu vaccinations and discounted gym memberships.
  • We also support staff with study assistance, paid parental leave (regardless of gender), volunteer, bereavement, gender affirmation and family violence leave and the opportunity for bonus annual leave.
  • We support our staff to grow their careers through learning and development and an organisational culture where we reward and recognise innovation and values, not long hours.
  • We are committed to building an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce that reflects the Australian community.
  • We care for a conservation reserve – where we work with key partner organisations to protect threatened species and involve staff in conservation.

What you will be doing

  • Own and manage the deposit product portfolio, developing product strategies, roadmaps and customer propositions that support sustainable growth.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, customer behaviour, market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth, retention and optimisation.
  • Develop and implement product and pricing initiatives, balancing customer outcomes, competitiveness, funding objectives and commercial performance.
  • Lead product changes across the lifecycle, including new propositions, enhancements, simplification, rationalisation and migration.
  • Use customer, market and portfolio insights to make data-driven decisions and continuously improve products and customer experiences.
  • Ensure deposit products meet regulatory, risk, compliance, disclosure and product governance requirements.
  • Partner across Treasury, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Marketing, Operations, Retail and Technology to turn opportunities into delivered outcomes.
  • Provide product expertise across strategic initiatives, including transformation, harmonisation and portfolio simplification.

What you will bring

  • Previous product management experience, specifically working on deposits banking products
  • A proactive, collaborative and hands‑on approach, with a focus on simplification, continuous improvement and great customer outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in product management within banking or financial services, ideally across deposits or other retail banking products.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification. Product management, Commerce, Business, IT, Finance or Risk management qualifications will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in product simplification, merger or acquisition activities would be favourable.
  • Strong understanding of product strategy, portfolio management, digital experience, pricing and the end-to-end product lifecycle.
  • Disciplined approach to Product Management and ability to implement and educate the wider business on product management techniques
  • Strong commercial and analytical capability with confidence using customer, market and performance data to inform decisions.
  • Deep understanding of the Australian banking regulatory and product governance environment, including Design and Distribution Obligations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver product initiatives through cross-functional teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management, resilience and influencing skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across the organisation.
  • A sense of enquiry and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
  • A flexible and agile mind‑set with a pro‑active attitude and a focus on driving results.
  • Commitment to Bank Australia’s purpose, aspiration, values and brand as well as the B Corp ethos.

By submitting an application you agree to Bank Australia’s Privacy Policy for applicants and confirm that you are legally able to work in Australia. Bank Australia is an equal opportunity employer committed to sustainable development. We encourage people from different backgrounds to apply, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from different cultural backgrounds and people with disabilities because we want to reflect the diversity of our communities. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments to provide a positive, barrier‑free recruitment process and supportive workplace.
