Job description

Senior Marketing Specialist - Content & Engagement

At Bank Australia, we're looking for an experienced, values-aligned content professional who can turn strategy into action, strengthen brand awareness and nurture meaningful connections with customers.

Working closely with the Manager – Content & Engagement, you'll bring our content strategy to life across a broad range of owned channels and customer touchpoints, including website, blog, email, organic social media, the customer app and internet banking. You'll create engaging, accessible, optimised content that builds trust; highlighting customer-owned banking and impact lending, and our work across four key impact areas of:

  • climate action
  • nature and biodiversity
  • affordable and accessible housing
  • First Nations Recognition and Respect.

This is a varied senior specialist role with scope for significant autonomy, ownership and trust. You'll combine critical thinking with hands‑on delivery, exercising sound judgement to balance creativity, customer needs, business objectives, risk and compliance. You'll take work from idea to execution, collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation and externally, and continuously look for ways to improve what we do.

We work in a highly regulated environment, so you’ll also be confident balancing content performance with compliance obligations, avoiding greenwashing, working strictly within approved key messaging and substantiating all claims.

We're open to candidates from a range of professional backgrounds. You'll bring deep expertise in some areas of content and engagement, be willing to develop capability in others, and know when to propose leveraging agency or freelance support to achieve the best outcomes.

This role can be based in either of our Sydney or Melbourne head offices. Core required in-office days are Tuesday-Thursday.
  • We have big plans to become Australia’s leading purpose-driven bank.
  • As a certified B Corporation, we’re part of a global business community who meet the highest social and environmental standards, balancing profit and purpose.
  • Every role and person in our bank is essential to bringing our values, purpose and aspiration to life.
  • We offer flexible working options, competitive salary and 14% super.
  • Our staff have access to a range of meaningful benefits to support their physical and mental wellbeing including 24/7 free counselling, free flu vaccinations and discounted gym memberships.
  • We also support staff with study assistance, paid parental leave (regardless of gender), volunteer, bereavement, gender affirmation and family violence leave; and the opportunity for bonus annual leave.
  • We support our staff to grow their careers through learning and development and an organisational culture where we reward and recognise innovation and values, not long hours.
  • We are committed to building an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce that reflects the Australian community.
  • We care for a conservation reserve – where we work with key partner organisations to protect threatened species and involve staff in conservation.
What you will be doing
  • Planning, managing and executing content calendars across Bank Australia’s owned channels
  • Engaging with our external agencies to deliver content, and coordinating in-house content creation
  • Creating engaging, on-brand, accessible and optimised written, visual and video content
  • Interviewing team members, customers and partners, ideally appearing on camera if needed
  • Coordinating with our Brand, Digital, Product and Corporate Affairs teams to align owned-channel content with other workstreams
  • Using tools like Jira to project manage and our DAM to maintain our asset library
  • Following a strict approvals process, actively managing content-related risk, e.g. anti‑greenwashing, content licensing and usage, data and privacy obligations
  • Leading social media community management with support from our Marketing Specialist – Content and relevant colleagues, including over weekends on a (paid) rotating basis
  • Contributing to the development of the annual marketing plan and impact report
  • Tracking and reporting on content performance, using insights to refine and improve .
What you will bring
  • We're less interested in a perfect career path and more interested in how you work and what you deliver.
  • You'll likely bring experience in content marketing, communications, digital experience or a related field, along with demonstrated:
  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills.
  • Digital fluency across web, email and social media.
  • Understanding of good design principles, accessibility and brand integrity.
  • Strong attention to detail, research and analytics skills, and risk awareness.
  • Curiosity and a commitment to continual learning and improvement.
  • Ability to conceptualise and take ownership, solve problems and see work through to completion on a reliable timeline.
  • Sound judgement, particularly when balancing competing priorities and making decisions independently within your remit.
  • Comfort working within governance, legal, compliance and approval processes.
  • Understanding of and commitment to effective and responsible use of AI, including optimising content for AEO and social search
  • Ability to provide and guide thoughtful and brand‑aligned social community management
  • Strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to inspire, collaborate with and mentor others.
  • Commitment to Bank Australia’s purpose, aspiration, values and brand as well as the B Corp ethos.
