Job summary

Minelab is seeking a Product Development Engineer to support design and development of world-leading metal detectors and related products. You will work in the Applications Engineering team across concepts, prototyping, testing, supplier engagement and global launch.

The role suits an engineer with ~5 years' post-graduate experience in physical product design, comfortable turning customer needs into manufacturable solutions and coordinating multi-project activities.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in electronics, mechanical, product design engineering or related discipline with ~5 years' post-graduate experience in physical product design.
Experience taking products from concept through prototyping, testing and manufacture.
Experience with consumer electronics, engineered products, plastics, or contract manufacturers is valuable.
Organised, technically curious and able to work across multiple development activities.
Experience with CAD, prototypes, product testing and technical documentation is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

Contribute to design and development of physical products, accessories and connected technologies.
Translate customer needs into technical requirements and specifications.
Coordinate prototypes, samples, supplier inputs and design reviews.
Support testing, verification and validation throughout the lifecycle.
Work with teams and suppliers to refine designs and improve performance.
Assist design for manufacture and production readiness activities.
Prepare technical information for manufacturing, marketing, sales and user manuals.
