Job summary

CSR is seeking a Product Development Engineer – Building Products in Wetherill Park, NSW to join our Customer Solutions team. You will research, design, test, and commercialise new insulation and ventilation products, working closely with Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Technical teams to move concepts to market.

You will contribute to product performance, compliance, sustainability and growth while engaging with a broad range of stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Mechanical/Structural/Mechatronics, Electrical or related field.
• 2+ years in new product development or product engineering.
• Ability to manage projects and engage stakeholders effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience interpreting standards, regulations or compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, testing, validation, and implementation of new insulation/ventilation products.
• Interpret regulatory requirements and standards for compliant solutions.
• Manage projects from concept to commercialisation.
• Evaluate materials, technologies, and suppliers for performance and cost.
• Conduct testing, prototyping, trials, and performance assessments.
• Provide technical guidance across sales, marketing, operations and supply chain.
• Develop and maintain technical docs, specs, and validation reports.
• Monitor market trends to inform future roadmaps.

Product Development Engineer – Building Products

As a trusted leader in building products across Australia and New Zealand, we're looking for a talented Product Development Engineer to join our Customer Solutions team and help develop the next generation of insulation and ventilation products.

This role is based in Wetherill Park and offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects that influence product performance, compliance, sustainability, and market growth.

About The Role

Reporting to the Insulation & Ventilation Innovation Manager, you'll play a key role in researching, designing, testing, and commercialising new building product solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams across Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Technical functions, you'll help bring innovative products from concept through to market launch.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, testing, validation, and implementation of new insulation and ventilation products and product improvements.


• Interpret regulatory requirements, Australian Standards, and industry trends to develop compliant and innovative solutions.


• Manage product development projects from concept through to commercialisation.


• Evaluate and qualify new materials, technologies, and suppliers to improve performance, efficiency, and cost competitiveness.


• Conduct product testing, prototyping, trials, and performance assessments.


• Provide technical expertise across sales, marketing, operations, and supply chain teams.


• Develop and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and validation reports.


• Monitor competitor activity, emerging technologies, and market trends to support future product roadmaps.

About You

You are an innovative engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges and turning ideas into commercially successful products. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are comfortable managing projects while engaging with a broad range of stakeholders.

You’ll Bring

• Degree qualifications in Mechanical, Structural, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.


• Minimum 2 years' experience in new product development or product engineering.


• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.


• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.


• Experience interpreting technical standards, regulations, or compliance requirements.


• Exposure to construction products, manufacturing, or building systems will be highly regarded.


• Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar 3D design software is advantageous.
