Job summary

Qantas seeks a hands-on Product Designer to lead end-to-end design for mobile experiences. Based at our brand-new Product and Innovation Centre in Adelaide, you will work with Product and Engineering to turn complex challenges into clear, user-centered solutions.

You’ll facilitate workshops, champion the design system, and ensure accessibility and brand standards while exploring AI-enabled tools to speed up prototyping and handover to developers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Service Design, UX,UI or similar role
• Understanding of design for native apps and digital platforms
• Experience collaborating with product and engineering teams
• Ability to produce user-centered outcomes aligned with brand and brief
• Knowledge of usability and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0 AA)
• Experience using design tools (Miro, Figma, ClaudeCode, Adobe CS) and Jira/Confluence

As a Product Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading the end-to-end design and delivery of innovative mobile experiences. You’ll transform complex customer and business challenges into clear, actionable solutions that delight our customers and drive real business value. This is a hands‑on opportunity, where you’ll be involved in every stage—from discovery and research, through planning and execution, to delivery and ongoing iteration. Working closely with our Product and Engineering teams, you’ll define problems, explore creative solutions, and help bring outstanding outcomes to life. We’re looking for a strong collaborator and influencer who thrives in a squad environment and can engage effectively with stakeholders. You’ll facilitate workshops, champion our design system, and ensure every solution meets Qantas’ brand, accessibility and quality standards. Leveraging AI-enabled tools, you will drive efficiency and innovation in design activities, including insight synthesis, exploration, prototyping and seamless handover.

If you've played around with the latest AI‑powered design tools, or have fresh ideas for using AI to spark creativity, speed up prototyping or make delivery smoother, you'll fit right in. Must have:

• 5+ years of experience in Service Design, UX, UI, CX, and/or a similar role.
• Tertiary qualification in Design, Human‑Centered Design (HCD), or a relevant field.
• Understanding of design for native apps, conversational interfaces and other digital platforms.
• Ability to focus on objectives and deliverables at both technical and creative levels,
  always user‑centric.
• Strategic thinking to deliver innovative outcomes aligned with brief and brand.
• Knowledge of usability and accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.0 AA.
• Experience using modern industry tools such as Miro, Figma, ClaudeCode, and Adobe Creative Suite; collaboration tools like JIRA and Confluence.
• Practical experience using AI tools to streamline design handover to developers and
  generate code (e.g., Figma's AI plugins, ClaudeCode).
• Ability to communicate design concepts to stakeholders, adapting to the audience.
• Experience in concept development, wireframing, persona creation and user testing.

Desirable:

• Experience of modern frameworks and rituals: Lean, Design Thinking, Scrum,
  Kanban.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current digital design standards and industry trends.
• Strong facilitation skills, with a track record of successful outcomes.
• Ability to solve high‑impact design challenges in large, complex organisations.
• Demonstrated logical reasoning and sound decision‑making, including numerical analysis.
• Some experience developing and promoting a product vision collaboratively.
• Some experience creating and developing new user interface design patterns
