Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC in Redmond, WA is seeking a Product Design Engineer to lead mechanical design for customer terminals. You will own design decisions from concept through production, work with cross-functional teams, and drive DRI responsibilities for multiple components.

The role requires 3+ years of product design experience, strong CAD/FEA skills, and the ability to scale designs for high-volume manufacturing while optimizing for cost and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of product design experience (consumer, medical, telecom, etc).
• 3+ years of experience with 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing creation.
• Experience designing for high-volume manufacturing (injection, thermoforming, casting, sheet metal, machining).
• Experience performing tolerance analysis and statistical analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

• PD Direct Responsible Individual (DRI) for multiple system components (housings, PCBs, thermal components, etc).
• Work with cross functional team to solve difficult electromechanical problems to enable good design.
• Identify key design constrains and priorities.
• Demonstrate solid mechanical fundamentals and judgement through design decisions
• Deliver robust, flexible, durable, and performant designs
• Concise and accurate communication with PD members, cross functional teams, and executives.
• Customer focused when solving ambiguous problems.
• Ability to create scalable solutions while solving tactical problems.
• Position will require international travel.
