Job summary

Snowy Hydro is seeking a commercially minded Procurement Manager - Retail & Corporate to join the Strategic Procurement team in Sydney or Melbourne. You will lead planning, sourcing and delivery of strategic procurement across OPEX and corporate services, translating category strategies into actionable plans and driving value for money.

You will mentor a Procurement Specialist, build strong stakeholder partnerships, and ensure compliance with Snowy Hydro policies while delivering ongoing savings

Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years in procurement, strategic sourcing, or contract management within a corporate setting.
• Experience leading complex sourcing programs and supplier negotiations.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Procurement, Law, Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong stakeholder management and clear communication with senior teams.
• Operational/OPEX procurement experience across corporate services, facilities, or marketing is advantageous.

About the position:

We are seeking a commercially minded, collaborative Procurement Manager - Retail & Corporate to join our Strategic Procurement team. Reporting to the Head of Strategic Procurement, this pivotal role is responsible for leading the planning, sourcing, and delivery of strategic procurement activities across operational expenditure, production operations maintenance activities, Corporate Services, and broader enterprise support categories.

In this role, you will focus on translating overarching category strategies into project-specific plans, managing large procurement packages, driving value for money, and directly contributing to our operational expenditure savings target. Acting as a trusted commercial adviser, you will build strong stakeholder partnerships across production operations and corporate functions, while providing day-to-day leadership and mentoring to a direct report (Procurement Specialist).

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Leadership & Strategy Execution: Partner with senior business stakeholders across corporate functions and production operations maintenance teams to translate overarching Category Management frameworks into actionable, project-specific procurement and market engagement strategies aligned with business risk appetite and commercial priorities.

End-to-End Sourcing & Contract Negotiations: Lead complex end-to-end sourcing activities (including RFQs, RFPs, RFTs, and EOIs). Prepare comprehensive tender packs, lead market releases, and drive commercial negotiations to maximise value for money, achieve sustainable cost, and manage risk across non-IT retail projects (e.g., marketing, legal) and corporate office needs.

Commercial Value & Savings Delivery: Own the commercial performance of assigned portfolios and drive execution to directly deliver on Snowy Hydro's overarching OPEX savings target. Establish effective contract management frameworks, manage variations, extensions, and disputes, and utilise market intelligence to optimise commercial outcomes.

People Leadership & Capability Building: Provide direct leadership, direction, coaching, and workload management for a Procurement Specialist. Build team capability through practical guidance, quality assurance, and fostering an accountable, commercially focused, and highly collaborative environment.

Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement: Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for operational services, corporate services, facilities, fleet & fuel, travel, and site services. Communicate complex procurement requirements clearly and patiently to operational stakeholders, ensure compliance with Snowy Hydro policies and delegations, maintain high-quality records, and drive continuous improvement in procurement tools and processes.

About you:

Procurement & Commercial Expertise: Minimum 7+ years' experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, commercial management, or contract management within a corporate environment. Demonstrated experience executing complex sourcing strategies, market releases, and supplier negotiations.

Education & Background Flexibility: Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Procurement, Law, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. An operational background or experience managing procurement across generalist/OPEX categories (operational maintenance, corporate services, marketing, facilities management) is highly regarded.

Stakeholder Management & Clear Communication: Outstanding soft skills, approachability, patience, and clear communication skills with a proven track record of acting as a trusted adviser to senior business stakeholders and operational teams.

Leadership & Mentoring: Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop direct reports or project team members, setting clear priorities and fostering high-performing team dynamics.

Commercial Acumen & Software Proficiency: Strong financial acumen, analytical, and negotiation skills with a deep understanding of contract interpretation and supplier performance management. Proficient in standard productivity tools including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Professional procurement accreditation is advantageous.
