Job summary

SME Powered Services is a growing Australian electrical and communications contractor entering an exciting growth phase. We are building a procurement function in Victoria, including for data centre projects, and value autonomy, safety and teamwork.

Hybrid working with free parking is offered at Port Melbourne. The role focuses on end‑to‑end procurement, supplier negotiations and governance to ensure timely, value‑driven project materials and subcontractors across multiple large infrastructure

Qualifications

• Solid procurement experience within electrical, construction, engineering, infrastructure, building services or similar project environments.
• Commercially sharp and a confident negotiator.
• Practical, organised and solutions focused.
• Comfortable working autonomously and making decisions.
• Strong at building relationships with suppliers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement across electrical, communications, infrastructure and data centre projects.
• Develop procurement plans and manage long‑lead and critical‑path items.
• Source, tender and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Build strong, reliable supplier relationships.
• Manage supplier performance, risk and commercial outcomes.
• Improve procurement systems, processes and reporting as the business grows.
• Work closely with project teams to identify and solve supply‑chain risks early.
• Establish a clear governance structure to maintain accurate and appropriate use of procurement systems.
• Support ethical, compliant and safety‑focused procurement practices.
• Help shape and grow the procurement function and team.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to take ownership of our end-to-end procurement function and help build it for the next stage of the business.

You’ll work closely with estimating, design, project delivery, commercial, finance and logistics to make sure our projects have the right materials, equipment and subcontractors, at the right time and at the right value, whilst also standardising a central procurement model.

About You

You’ll have solid procurement experience within electrical, construction, engineering, infrastructure, building services or a similar project environment.

We’re looking for someone who is:

Experience with data centres, major electrical projects or mission‑critical infrastructure will be highly regarded but not essential.
