Job summary

Metricon Homes, Australia’s largest home builder, is seeking a Procurement Category Manager to lead strategic procurement across core cost centres from our Notting Hill Brisbane office. You will shape category strategies, engage stakeholders in design, sales, operations, construction, finance and legal, and drive KPI aligned objectives.

You will develop supplier sourcing and performance programs, support onsite efficiency and margin growth, and build Metricon’s reputation as a customer of choice

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree with at least 3 years in residential construction estimating or related role.
• Advanced computer literacy: MS Office/Windows environment with Excel.
• Experience with distribution, logistics and forecasting systems.
• Strong procurement process understanding.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team.
• Excellent communication & presentation skills.
• National police check required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies engaging key stakeholders across six core business functions (Design, Sales, Operations, Construction, Finance, Legal).
• Develop and implement supplier sourcing, performance management and retention programs.
• Support onsite efficiency, quality and safety by improving the supply chain and reducing costs.
• Drive margin improvement and erosion control across the procurement function.
• Lead procurement initiatives at state and national levels in alignment with management.
• Manage internal and external relationships and ensure policy adherence.
• Build Metricon’s reputation as a customer of choice with suppliers.

Reporting to the Management Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

• Procurement & Supply Chain Category Specific Strategies & Major Objectives Engage key stakeholders in 6 core business functions - (i) Design (ii) Sales (iii) Operations (iv) Construction (v) Finance & (vi) Legal to develop, priorities & implement key category specific strategies & major objectives
• Develop & implement supplier sourcing, performance management & retention program
• Support Construction Onsite Efficiency, Quality & Safety by providing high Performing Supply Chain Reduce Direct Build Costs & Increase Margin OpportunitiesReduce margin erosion & ETS Support the Supply Chain & Procurement Manager in driving Procurement Leadership across the Metricon Organisation both at state level & nationally as required
• Category LEVEL Performance Management and ImprovementSupplier LEVEL Performance Management and ImprovementProjects as nominated by manager

The successful candidate will have:

• Diploma or Degree qualified - with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a residential construction role in an Estimating or related role
• Advanced computer literacy skills - MS Office/Windows environment particularly ExcelKnowledge and experience with distribution, logistics and forecasting systems
• Knowledge and experience using various systems and project methodologies Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to prioritise and coordinate available time and resources for maximum effectiveness
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of the team
• Strong Procurement process understanding
