Djinda Produce in Western Australia is looking for an experienced Fresh Produce Manager to lead our high-care processing room, including washing, cutting, grading, packing and value-add processing. You will ensure orders are processed on time and to our paddock-to-plate standards.
This is a floor-based leadership role requiring hands-on oversight of equipment, safety, QA compliance with FSANZ and retailer standards, and mentoring a small team.
Djinda Produce is Western Australia's only 100% Aboriginal-owned fresh produce supplier. With over 10 years in the market, we supply fresh fruit and vegetables to government, corporate, and retail customers across WA and are an approved supplier under the WA Government Common Use Arrangement (CUAGRO2019). We're a close-knit, fast-moving team built on a strong track record of reliable, quality service.
You'll lead our high-care processing room – the washing, cutting, grading, packing, and value-add processing of fresh fruit and vegetables. You will be responsible for ensuring every order is processed on time and in full, without letting the food safety and hygiene standards behind our paddock-to-plate guarantee slip.
This is a floor role, not an office one. You'll plan the day, run the equipment when it's needed, sort minor breakdowns before they become downtime, and train the team. We're building the processing operation up for major retail supply – you'll be the person who gets it audit-ready.
We're looking for someone with at least five years' experience managing a production or processing operation in a similar environment. This isn't a step-up role.
Plan and schedule daily processing, and allocate labour to hit production targets within budget
Lead the processing and packing team from the floor – operating equipment alongside them as required
Make sure every processed order meets customer specifications, accurately and in full
Track yield, throughout, and wastage, and keep product loss within acceptable limits
Carry out minor repairs, adjustments, and preventative maintenance; troubleshoot machinery and liaise with contractors
Work with QA to keep us compliant with FSANZ, the Food Standards Code, and retailer standards – including traceability, labelling, and hygiene
Take part in internal and external audits, and close out corrective actions and non-conformances on time
Work with the General Manager to train and upskill the team, enforce WHS, and close out hazards and incidents promptly
Help write and update SOPs and work instructions, and drive improvements in safety, efficiency, and quality
Support new product development trials with input on labour, yield, and cost
Run a high-care processing function in a purpose-fitted facility
Real ownership – you'll shape how processing runs as it scales
A small, close-knit team where you work directly with the General Manager and Managing Director – decisions get made quickly, people back each other up, and good work gets noticed
Relocation assistance for the right candidate – interstate and regional applicants are welcome
Be part of something with meaning – help build WA's only 100% Aboriginal-owned fresh produce supplier
Permanent full-time role with steady, contracted demand – not seasonal churn
Minimum 5 years' experience in a production or processing management role in FMCG or fresh food – this is essential
Hands-on experience operating and maintaining production equipment, with a strong mechanical aptitude
Solid working knowledge of FSANZ requirements and retailer audit standards
A hands-on leader who stays calm and organised under daily production pressure
Standards-driven on quality, hygiene, and food safety
Comfortable with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems
Full working rights in Australia
A qualification in food science, engineering, or manufacturing, a first aid certificate, or a forklift licence is a bonus
