Job summary

Inghams Chickens in Victoria is seeking a hands-on packer to support our Further Processing Plant. The role offers Dayshift and Afternoon Shift, Monday to Friday, with an immediate start and consistent weekly hours.

You will work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment that values safety and quality. Forklift licence holders and those with food industry experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in food handling or processing is advantageous.
• Able to work in a cold environment and follow safety rules.
• Good command of English, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Pack and prepare products according to specifications and quality standards.
• Perform manual handling of up to 5–15 kg.
• Maintain packing lines and keep workspaces clean and organised.
• Store and manage materials, equipment, and tools.
• Identify and escalate food safety & quality issues.
• Participate in safety initiatives and follow safety rules.
• Be a reliable and collaborative team member.

In this packing role, you will be supporting our Further Processing Plant. This hands‑on role offers both Dayshift and Afternoon Shift from Mondays to Fridays.

Daily Tasks

• Pack and prepare products according to specifications and quality standards.
• Perform manual handling tasks which include lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, and reaching.
• Maintain packing lines and workspaces in a clean and organised manner.
• Store and manage materials, equipment, and tools.
• Ability to work in a cold environment.
• Identify and elevate Food Safety & Quality issues, hazards, and risks.
• Participate in safety initiatives, follow the safety rules, speak up, and be mindful of risks.
• Being an active, committed, and reliable team member.

You will bring to this role

• Ability to work under minimum supervision in a small team.
• Capable of performing tasks efficiently, correctly, and systematically in accordance with policies and standards.
• Ability to understand, correctly interpret and follow instructions, procedures, and information.
• Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Good command of English both verbal and written.
• Able to respond calmly and methodically when faced with obstacles.
• Experience in the food industry is highly valued.
• Candidates with a Forklift license are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Candidates who are keen to work in our Protein Conversion Plant, holder of an Elevated Work Platform certificate, and/or Boiler ticket would be an advantage.
• Good level of fitness is required as you will manually handle up to 5kg- 15kg
