Job summary

Austcorp Executive is seeking an experienced Engineering Projects Engineer to drive process performance, continuous improvement and capital projects in a highly automated Bathurst manufacturing environment.

You will lead projects from concept through installation, commissioning and handover, collaborating with Production, Maintenance and Engineering teams to optimise processes and deliver robust technical solutions.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Process, Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum five years' experience in manufacturing/industrial engineering.
  • Experience delivering engineering and capital projects from design to execution.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead capital projects from concept to commissioning and handover.
  • Optimize manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Document operating parameters and ensure best practice procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement to reduce downtime and waste.
  • Analyse performance using Lean, Six Sigma, RCA and A3 methodologies.
  • Collaborate with Production and Maintenance to resolve complex issues.
  • Prepare CAPEX proposals with robust justification and docs.
  • Assist in future capital investment planning based on needs.
  • Design and validate engineering solutions, including feasibility studies.
  • Provide mechanical design and drafting support when needed.
  • Manage contractors and external partners throughout projects.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality and engineering standards.
  • Support preventive maintenance and asset management

Engineering Projects Engineer

About the Role

Monday - Friday 8am-4pm

Bathurst

We are partnering with a leading manufacturing business seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their engineering team. This is a key technical role responsible for driving process performance, continuous improvement, operational reliability and capital projects across a highly automated manufacturing environment.

Working closely with Production, Maintenance and Engineering teams, you will play a pivotal role in optimising manufacturing processes while leading engineering projects from initial concept and design through to installation, commissioning and final execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support capital engineering projects from concept development, design, business case preparation and budgeting through to procurement, installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Develop and optimise manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, efficiency and operational performance.
  • Establish, document and maintain process operating parameters, ensuring best practice procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, improving productivity, minimising waste and increasing equipment reliability.
  • Analyse manufacturing performance using structured problem-solving methodologies such as RCA, Lean, Six Sigma and A3.
  • Partner closely with Production and Maintenance teams to provide technical engineering support and resolve complex process issues.
  • Prepare CAPEX proposals supported by robust financial justification and technical documentation.
  • Assist in developing future capital investment plans based on production requirements, asset reliability and operational risk.
  • Design, review and validate engineering solutions, including feasibility studies, installation methods and commissioning activities.
  • Provide mechanical design and drafting support where required.
  • Manage contractors, suppliers and external engineering partners throughout project delivery.
  • Ensure all engineering activities are completed in accordance with relevant safety, quality and engineering standards.
  • Support preventative maintenance, reliability improvement and asset management initiatives across the site.
  • Provide technical support during critical breakdowns or major operational issues when required.

About You

To be successful, you will ideally possess:

  • Degree qualifications in Mechanical, Process, Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum five years' experience within a manufacturing, process or industrial engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering engineering and capital projects from design through to execution.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, process optimisation and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working within highly automated production environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with experience using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, RCA or similar methodologies.
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge, with electrical understanding considered advantageous.
