Job summary

Powertech is seeking a Process Control Systems Commissioning Engineer for an offshore project based from our Perth office. This casual 6-12 month assignment involves night shifts and a 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off roster, starting mid-September, with superannuation paid on all worked hours.

You will lead commissioning of DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS, ESD, F&G, and related systems, review configurations, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with vendors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Systems required.
• Relevant offshore commissioning experience required.
• Current offshore certification: MSIC, BOSIET, ESCAPE-CHUTE, CAEBS; vendor certs are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute commissioning of Process Control Systems and related automation equipment.
• Perform system checks, loop checks, functional testing, interlock testing, and integrated system testing.
• Support commissioning and start-up of DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS, ESD, F&G, and related control systems.
• Review and verify control system configurations, I/O databases, logic, graphics, alarms, trends, and control narratives.
• Troubleshoot control system, instrumentation, communications, and process control issues during commissioning and start-up.
• Coordinate with instrumentation and electrical teams to resolve commissioning issues and punch-list items.
• Participate in system energisation, functional testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and readiness activities.
• Ensure commissioning activities are completed per procedures, drawings, specs, and schedules.
• Identify, document, and close technical and commissioning punch-lists.
• Assist with preparation and review of commissioning procedures, test packs, check sheets, and handover docs.
• Work with vendors and OEM reps to resolve technical issues.
• Provide technical support to operations during plant start-up and testing.
• Maintain accurate commissioning records and weekly progress reporting.
• Promote and maintain a strong offshore safety culture.

About You:

• Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Control Systems, or a related discipline.
• Relevant commissioning experience in offshore oil & gas facilities.
• Current offshore certification – MSIC, BOSIET, ESCAPE-CHUTE, CAEBS
• Additional control-system vendor certifications will be highly regarded.
