Job summary

Powertech Pty Ltd in Perth seeks a Senior High Voltage Technician / Field Service Engineer to commission, test and maintain HV protections, substations and power generation assets across Australia. You will lead field teams, train technicians and prepare commissioning documents, with travel nationwide on a project basis.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years' experience and strong IEC61850/GOOSE knowledge. Relocation support available; relocation from anywhere in Australia or NZ can be discussed.

Qualifications

• A Grade Electrical License or Engineering Degree/ diploma in Power Systems is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in HV commissioning/maintenance.
• Experience with HV primary plant and secondary systems.
• Familiarity with IEC61850/GOOSE messaging.
• Knowledge of Australian and international standards.

Responsibilities

• Commission HV protections systems and schemes; test and commission HV substations.
• Commission, test and maintain HV/LV plant and power generation assets.
• Provide technical support and training to technicians.
• Provide leadership and supervision to field staff.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer / Senior High Voltage Technician to join Powertech supporting our Malaga office on a Full-Time Permanent Basis.

This is a permanent role so applicants either need to live locally or be willing to relocate,if locating to Perth from anywhere in Australia or New Zealand we would be happy to discuss relocation costs.

Candidates who can demonstrate ahigh theoretical and practical knowledge with a wide range of HV primary plant and especially secondary systems are required.

This role also has the potential for national and international travel on a project by project basis.

About The Role:

• Commissioning, testing and maintaining HV Protections systems / schemes, experience with IEC61850 / GOOSE communications is highly desirable
• Commissioning, testing and maintaining HV Substations secondary systems and primary plant
• Commissioning, testing and maintaining various HV/LV Plant/Assets.
• Commissioning, testing and maintaining Power Generation Systems.
• Commissioning, testing and maintaining Power Transformers.
• Provide technical support and training to technicians.
• Provide leadership and supervision to technicians.
• Competent in preparation of commissioning/testing documentation, protection test plans and create detailed technical reports on completion of works.

About You:

• Preferable "A Grade" (Fitter and Mechanic) Electrical Workers License or Engineering Degree / Diploma in Power Systems would be highly regarded.
• Degree must be Engineers Australia recognised.
• Minimum 10 years' experience.
• HV Switching Ticket preferred.
• Experience with IEC61850 and GOOSE messaging through IED Scout viewed favourably.
• Knowledge of appropriate Australian and International Standards.
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• Proven ability meeting project quality, schedule and budget requirements.
• Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven experience in using the Omicron suite of equipment for secondary system testing.
• Power Station experience viewed favourably.
