Job summary

Queensland Government is seeking a Probation Services Officer to support adult offender management and rehabilitation across Queensland. Qualifications

• Formal qualifications aren’t mandatory, but human services degrees are highly regarded.
• Complete Certificate IV in Correctional Practice (Community) within 12–18 months.
• A current C class driver’s licence is required.
• Training may be required for operational duties (urinalysis, court-related tasks).

Job description

Community Corrections supervises adult offenders across Queensland, aiming to reduce reoffending and improve public safety. Operating from offices in seven regions, including metropolitan, rural, and remote areas, the teams support individuals in fulfilling community-based orders and making positive life changes.

As a Probation Services Officer, you'll play a vital role in encouraging pro-social behaviours, promoting rehabilitation, and contributing to safer communities across Queensland.

To succeed in this role, you'll demonstrate:

• Effective task management, meeting deadlines while working independently and in a team
• Proven experience engaging diverse internal and external stakeholders to support service delivery
• Strong awareness of sensitive issues, with a commitment to privacy and legislative compliance
• Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to conduct difficult conversations, resolve issues, and negotiate positive outcomes
• Meaningful, purpose-driven work supporting rehabilitation and community safety
• Structured, role-specific training to build capability and confidence
