Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC – Ararat VIC seeks a Recreation Officer to plan and lead prison recreation activities, supporting rehabilitation and community reintegration at Hopkins Correctional Centre. You will assess needs, design suitable programs for varied abilities, and coach participants with respect in a safe environment.

Applicants should have Certificate III in Fitness and Prison Officer Pre-Service Training, plus experience in running recreation programs and strong

Qualifications

Certificate III in Fitness or equivalent required.
Willingness to complete Prison Officer Pre-Service Training if not already completed.
Experience planning and running recreation programs.
Understanding of prison environment, rules and safety needs.
Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to treat people with respect.
Ability to solve problems and adapt to change under pressure.

Responsabilités

Plan and lead recreation activities for people in prison at Hopkins Correctional Centre.
Assess recreation needs and tailor programs for diverse abilities and needs.
Coach and guide participants in a respectful, positive manner.
Maintain safe, secure recreation spaces, equipment and supplies following prison rules.
Track program results and coordinate with prison staff to support rehabilitation.
