Macquarie Group in Sydney seeks a UI Principal / Lead Designer to define the future-state visual identity, interaction quality, and design standards across our retail, wealth, and business banking platforms for iOS, Android, and web.

As an exceptional visual craftsperson, you will mentor designers, lead UI critique forums, and ensure production-grade visual execution, partnering with the Design System Lead and engineers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience specializing in UI, visual design, motion, and design systems.
• Portfolio demonstrating world-class visual craft, typography, and motion in shipped consumer apps.
• Fluency in agentic design workflows and AI-assisted design for faster ideation and prototyping.
• Mastery of design system architecture, variables, tokens, states, and nested variants.
• Knowledge of iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Android Material Design for web and mobile.
• Strong accessibility fundamentals (WCAG contrast, focus indicators, target sizes).
• Experience translating concepts into scalable components and design system assets.

Responsibilities

• Define future-state visual identity, interaction quality, and design standards across retail, wealth, and business banking platforms.
• Bridge brand strategy and product experience for iOS, Android, and web.
• Mentor designers, lead UI critique forums, and elevate visual execution across the organisation.
• Collaborate with the Design System Lead and engineering teams to deliver production-ready design assets.
