Macquarie Group is seeking a Design Lead – Design Systems to own the vision, strategy, and operations of our system. You will directly manage the Design system lead and core systems team, shaping career growth and prioritisation while driving multi-year strategy across iOS, Android, and web.

You will partner with brand, marketing, and product design leadership to establish a unified visual language and governance model that enables safe contribution by product squads.

Qualificações

• 8-10+ years in digital product design, building design systems at scale.
• Proven people management and mentoring experience.
• Expert in modern design system tooling, including Figma and design tokens.
• Strong ability to align brand and product priorities with engineering.
• Fluent in accessibility and performance for web/mobile.

As we mature our Design System across retail and business banking, we are looking for a Design lead – Design Systems to own the overarching vision, strategy, and operations of our system. Reporting into the Head of Design, you will lead the system discipline, directly manage our small design systems team and partner with executive product, brand, and engineering stakeholders to scale our design infrastructure.

What role will you play?

As the Design lead for our design system, you will balance strategic leadership, people management, and systemic craft. You will serve as a direct people manager and mentor to the Design system lead and the core systems team, shaping their career growth, performance, and day-to-day prioritisation. You will define and drive the multi-year strategy, roadmap, and commercial value proposition of the Macquarie Design System across native iOS, Android, and web. Partnering with brand, marketing, and product design leadership, you will establish a unified visual language and ensure our digital products express our brand codes seamlessly. You will build and operate a lightweight, collaborative governance model and federated contribution framework that empowers product squads to consume, contribute, and innovate safely. In addition, you will co‑lead the system with engineering leads to ensure parity between design tokens, Figma libraries, and production code repositories.

What you offer

• 8-10+ years in digital product design, with a substantial portion dedicated to building, scaling, and governing multi-platform design systems at scale.
  
• Provide track record as a people manager, with demonstrable experience coaching and leading senior/lead level developers.
  
• Mastery of modern design system tooling, including advanced Figma architectures (variables, models, nested components), design tokens, and git-based design-to-code workflows.
  
• Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organisational dynamics, align divergent brand and product priorities, and secure buy‑in across engineering and product leadership.
• Deep technical fluency across native mobile (iOS HIG, Android Material) and responsive web conventions, including performance responsiveness, and accessibility standards.
• Strong background in establishing contribution models, design system metrics, clear documentation, and component governance processes.
