Job summary

Fortescue is a West Australian company and global green solutions leader. Fortescue is seeking a Risk Advisor at Senior or Principal level to provide practical project risk management across a fast-moving portfolio spanning green energy generation, storage, transmission and AI software systems.

You will partner with project teams and stakeholders to identify material risks early and support better decision-making.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in project risk management, preferably in energy/resources.
• Experience in consulting, assurance, or client-facing environments is a plus.
• Experience guiding complex multidisciplinary projects from studies to readiness.
• Strong understanding of risk identification, assessment, controls and governance.
• Ability to evaluate residual risk and future-phase risks with sound judgment.
• Excellent analytical, commercial and communication skills; capable of challenging constructively.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships with teams, execs and external advisers.
• Degree in engineering, project management, business, risk management or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Partner with project teams to establish and maintain robust risk registers across strategic, delivery, and technical risks.
• Lead risk workshops, reviews, and decision discussions with clear actions, owners and timelines.
• Support projects through study, definition, execution and readiness aligned with governance.
• Provide constructive challenge on assumptions, controls and contingency plans.
• Monitor portfolio for emerging risks and escalate issues early with practical responses.
• Prepare concise risk insights and assurance reporting for governance forums.
• Provide risk analysis for investment and delivery decisions using qualitative and quantitative methods.
• Lead and promote the Project Risk Management Standard across decarbonisation programs.
• Coach project teams to build ownership and consistent risk management capability.
• Maintain accurate risk information in approved platforms and adapt to changing priorities.
