Job summary

Youth Justice and Victim Support Brisbane is seeking a Principal Program Officer to design and develop reviews, projects, and initiatives that improve outcomes for youth and victims. You will work with the Manager to ensure timely, high-standard deliverables, engage stakeholders, and provide data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions.

Youth Justice and Victim Support – Brisbane QLD

This role will work closely with the Manager and be responsible for supporting the design and development of reviews, projects and initiatives that are effective, efficient, evidence-based, and enhance quality outcomes for youth and victims.

The Principal Program Officer will support the Manager to ensure reviews, appraisals, projects and initiatives are developed and delivered, within required timeframes and of a high standard.

The Principal Program Officer will engage with internal and external stakeholders, undertake data review and analysis activities, and deliver processes and outputs that meet Youth Justice projects and initiatives aims and expected outcomes.

As a Principal Program Officer, you will:

• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Develop, manage, and implement reviews, appraisals, projects and initiatives that support the effective delivery of services, congruent with current strategic and operational plans.
• Use data analytics to assess processes, determine organisational requirements and deliver data-driven insights to internal and external stakeholders.
• Confidently use Excel to summarise, analyse and explore large datasets.
• Support the implementation of projects and review of programs and initiatives through gathering, reviewing, and documenting key outcomes, via a range of mediums (i.e., consultations, surveys, case reads, literature reviews, data analysis and stakeholder engagement).
• Provide high level advice and reporting in relation to review, project and initiative appraisal, delivery status and outcomes.
• Gather information from a wide range of sources and provide strategic analysis and advice on complex operational program, policy and legislative issues which may impact the successful delivery of programs and initiatives.
• Coordinate and manage project activities to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of agreed outcomes.
• Engage in high level consultation, liaison, and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders to inform the development and implementation of reviews, projects and initiatives delivered by the business unit.
• Prepare a range of written materials including cabinet submissions, executive correspondence, briefing material, short reports, PowerPoint presentations, literature reviews, speech notes and information papers relating to projects and initiatives delivered by the business unit.
• Work within a team environment and contribute to the promotion of an accountable, supportive, and equitable work environment.
• Maintain positive connections with central, corporate, regional and detention centre staff to enable quality review, appraisal and service delivery improvement planning.
