Job summary

Beca is seeking a Principal – Ports and Maritime to lead and shape the growth of our ports and maritime business across Australasia and the Pacific from Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle or Brisbane. This senior role focuses on client relationships, project leadership and technical excellence in civil engineering for marine infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has extensive ports/marine experience in consulting, and is Chartered or on track for Chartership, with ability to guide teams and manage

Principal - Ports and Maritime Engineering

Beca has been providing maritime consultancy services to government, Industrial and Defence clients for over 80 years, and our Australian Ports and Maritime team is leading some of the largest maritime projects in the region.

We use our extensive experience of working in the marine environment to deliver projects both across Australia and internationally. We service all stages of a project - from the early planning, studies and concept work, through to detailed design and on to construction phase assistance and asset management.

As we continue our sustained growth we are seeking a Principal – Ports and Maritime to help lead and shape our maritime business.

About you

You will bring the passion and enthusiasm to help shape the growth of our Ports and Maritime business and have extensive senior level experience in ports/marine infrastructure projects in a consulting environment.

This experience will be across a range of assignments within the maritime market including across technical delivery and project leadership with a strong emphasis on client relationships.

In addition, to support key growth areas experience in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:

• Masterplanning for ports and/or shipyard projects[


• Working in the Pacific and design of works in the Pacific region


• Experience working with contractors, delivering designs under both traditional as well as Design & Construct or similar arrangements.


• You will be degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or similar) and a Chartered Engineer.

Our Australian Ports and Maritime team is growing strongly, with work across the ports and maritime, transport, defence and industrial markets ongoing, and has a strong forward pipeline. To help accelerate this growth we are seeking a Principal – Ports and Maritime to help lead and shape our ports and maritime business, ideally to be based in Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle or Brisbane, working across Australasia and the Pacific.
