Job summary

SLR Consulting is seeking a Principal Open Cut Consultant within our Mining Advisory group in Perth. The role focuses on end-to-end execution of complex mining studies, leading multidisciplinary teams across exploration through operation and closure, and advising clients on technical and commercial decisions.

You will drive business development, lead scoping and proposal development, and ensure high-value outcomes across diverse mining projects globally from our Perth office.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years in metalliferous open cut mining environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Postgraduate qualifications (e.g., Master’s in Mining or Mineral Economics) desirable.
• Additional study in project management, risk management, business, or financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end execution and delivery of complex technical studies.
• Lead, manage and mentor multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects on scope, on time and within budget.
• Act as trusted advisor to stakeholders, translating engineering data into actionable strategic advice.
• Maintain advanced knowledge of mine planning software to guide delivery of advisory projects.
• Drive commercial growth by generating leads and securing new project pipelines.
• Lead end-to-end development of proposals and shape scopes of work for clients.
