Job summary

Stanmore Resources is an Australian resources company seeking a Principal Mining Engineer to lead planning for open pit operations and govern mine reserves for short and medium term scheduling. The role will manage contractor planning integration and work closely with site operations and the corporate office.

You will collaborate with a technical team, ensure alignment with long-term strategy, and have opportunities to advance into leadership. FIFO or residential options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mining or Civil) or equivalent.
• Experience in large open pit mining operations.
• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
• Experience with contractors from a technical perspective is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, audit and govern single reserve database for excavation and dumps.
• Develop, audit, integrate and govern technical mine planning outputs and deliverables between the major contractor and principal.
• Develop and maintain site scheduling cost model for margin ranking and option analysis.
• Identify and mitigate plan risks, minimising production disruption.
• Ensure short term alignment to long term strategy.
• Have the opportunity to grow professionally and step into leadership positions.

Reporting directly to the Mine Planning Superintendent, the Principal Mining Engineer will play an integral role in the operations short to medium term success. The role will have responsibility for managing contractor deliverables for our major contractor on site, as well as manage integration between principal and contractor planning teams. The role will have responsibility and involvement in the development, implementation and governance of mine reserves for short and medium term scheduling horizons, and be responsible for technical deliverables and technical integration of our major contractor outputs. As a technical expert in scheduling and reserving, the role will work closely with site operations and technical teams and work to align with long term planning at the corporate office.

In this role you will:

As the successful applicant you will have:

• Strong capability in Spry and Deswik CAD
• Experience in working in large open pit mining operations
• A commitment to safety and continuous improvement, including process improvement
• A Bachelor of Engineering degree (Mining or Civil) or equivalent
• Understanding of value drivers in large open pit mining operations
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence a range of internal and external stakeholders
• Experience in working with contractors from a technical perspective is not essential but desirable.
