Job summary

KBR Australia is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services across Defence and secure infrastructure projects. You will mentor engineers, engage with Defence clients and coordinate multidisciplinary teams from concept through construction and commissioning.

The role requires strong knowledge of HVAC design, Defence infrastructure requirements and high-quality delivery in mission-critical environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or ability to obtain chartership.
• Baseline Security Clearance or ability to obtain one preferred.
• Extensive experience in mechanical building services design, ideally in Defence or mission-critical environments.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary project teams and technical delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services for Defence and secure infrastructure projects from concept to construction support.
• Provide technical leadership for HVAC, ventilation, chilled/heating water systems and building automation interfaces.
• Act as lead mechanical engineer on major projects, ensuring compliance with Defence requirements and Australian Standards.
• Manage deliverables, resources, budgets and programme to achieve outcomes.
• Mentor engineers, designers and graduates, promoting technical excellence.
• Collaborate with electrical, civil, structural and hydraulic disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
