Job summary

Arrow Energy in Brisbane, Australia, seeks a Principal Hydrology Engineer to lead modelling, monitoring and management of subsidence, reporting to the Groundwater Manager. The role requires 10+ years in hydrology/hydraulics and strong regulatory knowledge.

You will guide cross-functional teams through complex environmental programs and stakeholder engagements. The position offers a flexible hybrid WFH/office arrangement in Brisbane with occasional field travel and an attractive remuneration

Qualifications

• University degree in civil or environmental engineering.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in hydrology and hydraulics, flood modelling or flood risk management.
• Competence in delivering hydrologic and hydraulic assessments (RORB and TUFLOW).
• Understanding of water and environmental legislation to translate legal requirements into strategy and SOPs.
• Experience in risk assessment and contractor/k stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Be the Arrow technical authority for overland flow, flooding and subsidence monitoring.
• Represent Arrow in public and technical forums on science and processes.
• Lead the team delivering modelling, monitoring and management of subsidence.
• Ensure compliance with Environmental Authorities, Water Act, and related approvals.
• Develop and refine project plans, data analysis and reports with multidisciplinary teams.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Groundwater Manager, purpose of the role is to develop and implement company processes for identifying, modelling, monitoring and managing impacts to surface hydrological processes and drainage arising from Arrow's operations, ensuring Arrow meets its statutory obligations and stakeholder commitments.

This is a Brisbane based position and will require occasional travel to our field operations as required, with plenty of notice.

In addition, as a Principal you will:

• Be the Arrow technical authority for overland flow, flooding and subsidence monitoring.
• Represent Arrow in public and technical forums on the science and Arrow processes to monitor and manage impacts.
• Implement procedures and systems to comply with CSG induced subsidence related obligations arising from Environmental Authorities, the Water Act, the Regional Planning Interest Act, and Commonwealth conditions of approval.
• Contribute technical expertise to geomorphological, agronomic, hydrological and hydraulic related studies including reviewing and refining project plans, data analysis and reports.
• Lead an interdisciplinary team of geomatics, agronomy, engineering and remote sensing specialists and contractors, to deliver Arrow's program of modelling, monitoring and management of CSG induced subsidence to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations, commitments and Arrow's systems/processes.
• Demonstrate Arrow's compliance with statutory obligations and stakeholder commitments relating to CSG induced subsidence by supporting and taking part in engagements with stakeholders and regulators.
• Demonstrate a personal commitment to consistently role model Arrow’s values, code of conduct, safety and the environment.
• Establish positive and productive working relationships with key stakeholders.

About You:

• Qualification: University degree in civil or environmental engineering (or equivalent)
• Minimum 10 years' experience in hydrology and hydraulics, flood modelling or flood risk management.
• Demonstrated competence in delivering hydrologic and hydraulic assessments (RORB and TUFLOW) and developing fit for purpose monitoring and management objectives.
• Understanding of water and environmental legislation to translate legal requirements into sound strategy, processes and standard operating procedures.
• Undertaking and documenting risk assessment.
• Success in managing contractor and key external stakeholder relations.
• OH&S practices applicable to operational field work.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills at strategic and tactical levels.
• High level analytical, organisational, communication, presentation and managerial skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to ethical business practice.
