Job summary

Lightsource bp is seeking a Principal Environmental Planner in Sydney to lead planning across the project lifecycle, from site selection to post-construction. You’ll coordinate with local authorities, stakeholders and internal teams, ensuring compliant, timely outcomes for renewable energy developments.

You will work within Lightsource bp’s in-house Planning Team and contribute to global environmental initiatives, leveraging 7+ years of planning experience and a deep understanding of Australian

Qualifications

• Comprehensive working knowledge of federal, state and local planning systems across Australian jurisdictions.
• Experience in planning (7+ years) – in-house or consultancy.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Commercial acumen and entrepreneurial values.
• Ability to manage complex project issues, time, priorities and logistics.
• Experience in ground mount solar PV, wind and/or other renewable energy projects, including BESS.
• Solid understanding of the project development life cycle from early stage to COD.

Responsibilities

• Lead all planning aspects of a project’s life cycle from site selection to planning application preparation.
• Liaise with local authorities, engage stakeholders and manage pre- and post-construction work.
• Collaborate across internal teams (BD, design, construction, asset management, structured finance).
• Be part of the global environmental planning community within Lightsource bp.
