Job summary

National Engineering Consultancy in Sydney seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead HV design for major national projects, including solar and BESS integrations. You will guide technical studies and client interfaces, ensuring compliance with Australian standards.

With 10+ years in HV design and CPEng eligibility, you will shape technical direction, deliver robust design packages, and manage key stakeholder relationships across Australia.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience in HV design.
• Experience with ETAP/PSCAD/PowerFactory.
• CPEng or eligible to obtain.
• Strong knowledge of Australian standards.
• BSc Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Provide HV systems modelling, grid connection studies, protection studies, earthing designs, and technical advice/designs for private HV networks, solar farms, and battery energy storage systems.
• Produce technical documentation, specifications, datasheets for electrical equipment (switchgear, transformers, protection & control systems).
• Manage relationships with AEMO, DNSPs, and TNSPs.

Projects: Energy Infrastructure & Defence Infrastructure (33kV, 66kV, & 132kV, including Substations, Solar Plants & BESS).

We’re seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer in Sydney to join the national HV Design & Power Systems team and take on the role of technical lead for major national projects, some valued at up to $100 million.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide HV systems modelling, grid connection studies, protection studies, earthing designs, and technical advice/designs for private HV networks, solar farms, and battery energy storage systems.

What you’ll bring:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., BSc Engineering).

• Proven capability with power system modelling tools such as ETAP, PowerFactory, or PSCAD.
• Experience in earthing design and simulation software (e.g., CDEGS).
• Strong knowledge of Australian standards.
