Job summary

Mable is seeking a Principal Product Designer to advance our multi-brand design system across HomeMade and Mable, with hands-on ownership and decision authority. You’ll shape structure, tokens, components and AI tool integration, while collaborating with product designers and engineers to ensure consistency across web and mobile.

Remote from other Australian locations will be considered; most designers split time between Sydney or Melbourne offices and remote work.

Qualifications

• 8+ years as a product designer
• Portfolio showing systems thinking with reusable components
• Advanced Figma: components, variants, tokens
• Experience with multi-brand or multi-product design systems
• Experience with AI tools like Claude in design workflows
• Strong collaboration with engineering to ship components
• Solid understanding of accessibility standards and practical application
• Clear written communication to document decisions and guidelines
• Confidence in driving system direction and decisions
• Experience operating with autonomy and setting system-level direction

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the multi-brand design system across HomeMade and Mable
• Design and maintain tokens, components and patterns across brands, web and mobile
• Connect design system to AI tooling for reliable consumption by AI
• Audit component usage, flag inconsistencies, drive consolidation
• Write documentation and usage guidelines for designers and engineers
• Partner with engineers to keep design and code in sync
• Set governance to keep system consistent as teams contribute
• Lead the Design System Guild to drive shared ownership
• Champion accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA standards
• Advocate for design system value across the org and adoption
• Continuously improve the system based on feedback and AI workflows
