Job summary

Chalice Mining Limited, based in West Perth, seeks an experienced Principal Data Specialist to own Chalice’s data ecosystem across exploration and development. You will oversee acquisition, storage, validation and visualization of all spatial and non-spatial data, ensuring accuracy and security.

The role involves managing drill-hole databases for the Gonneville project, coordinating with IT, and producing high-quality maps for ASX reporting and leadership presentations.

Qualifications

• Experience in data management within the minerals exploration or mining industry.
• Strong GIS capability with QGIS and/or ArcGIS.
• Experience with drill-hole databases, including Datashed 5 and/or Geobank.
• Exposure to Micromine and/or Leapfrog for 3D modelling and data visualization.
• Broad, business-wide view of data flows across the organisation.
• Attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
• Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience in a listed mining or exploration company is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage Chalice’s overall data framework for exploration and development data.

• Maintain all spatial and non-spatial datasets with data integrity and version control.
• Liaise with IT to ensure data management systems run securely and efficiently.
• Manage software licences as required.
• Seek operational efficiencies in data management for cost reduction.
• Produce high-quality maps for ASX reports and presentations.
• Support spatial analysis and GIS problem-solving for exploration and development teams.
• Assist cross-functional teams with data collation and management.

Chalice is a leading ASX‑listed exploration specialist located in West Perth with a portfolio of district‑scale, precious and base metals projects across Australia. Their major greenfield discovery, Gonneville, is the first major palladium discovery in Western Australia and has received “Strategic Project” status from the Western Australian State Government and “Major Project Status” from the Australian Federal Government.

Principal Data Specialist – Perth

We are seeking an experienced Principal Data Specialist to join our Perth‑based team. This broad information‑management role requires you to be the custodian of Chalice’s data ecosystem across exploration and development, responsible for acquisition, storage, management, validation, and visualisation of all spatial and non‑spatial data.

Key Responsibilities

• Development and ongoing management of Chalice’s overall data framework, including acquisition, storage, validation, access and visualisation of all exploration and development‑related vector and raster data.
• In‑house management of the Chalice drill‑hole database for the Gonneville Development Project and regional exploration programs.
• Manage and maintain all spatial and non‑spatial datasets across the business, ensuring data integrity, accessibility and version control.
• Liaise with Chalice’s IT provider to ensure the data management system operates efficiently and securely.
• Manage software licences as required.
• Seek out and initiate operational efficiencies in data management, focusing on cost reduction and workflow streamlining.
• Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies in data management and geoscience informatics.
• Production of high‑quality maps for ASX reports, board presentations and team use.
• Spatial data management across tenement, exploration, heritage, rehabilitation and development datasets.
• Support the exploration and development teams with spatial analysis and GIS problem‑solving.
• Assist exploration, development, engineering, metallurgy and approvals teams with data collation and management.
• Support data management across exploration point and polygon data, drill hole and sample data, rehabilitation monitoring, geotechnical, metallurgical and water data, PoW data and heritage data.
• Assist geologists with management and compilation of large datasets to support generative exploration and new business development.

Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in a data management or information management role within the minerals exploration or mining industry.
• Strong GIS capability – proficiency in QGIS and/or ArcGIS is essential.
• Experience with drill‑hole database management systems, including Datashed 5 and/or Geobank.
• Exposure to Micromine and/or Leapfrog for 3D geological modelling and data visualisation.
• A broad, business‑wide view of data – you think about information flows across the organisation, not just within a single system.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
• Ability to work collaboratively across technical and non‑technical teams.
• Experience in a listed mining or exploration company environment is advantageous.
