Job summary

Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC – Melbourne VIC is seeking a principal assessor and program officer to lead case management and assessments for redress applications. You will guide a team through sensitive and complex applications, promoting trauma-informed practice and providing authoritative advice to senior leaders to ensure fair, timely outcomes.

Join a fixed-term full-time role in Melbourne with salary from $142,790 to $191,084 per year, plus super.

  • There are no mandatory qualifications for this role.
  • A qualification in social work, psychology and/or nursing is highly desirable.
  • You should also have: experience leading projects that support people affected by trauma or other harm.
  • strong writing and analysis skills to assess complex information clearly.

  • You will lead assessments and case management for people seeking redress.
  • You will guide a team through sensitive and complex applications.
  • You will help people access redress and support services when they need them.
  • You will use your skills to make fair, clear and timely decisions.
  • Fixed-Term (until 30/09/2027), full-time role earning $142,790 - $191,084per year, plus super.
What you will do

As principal assessor and program officer, you will lead case management and assessments.

You will guide your team while also working directly with applicants.

About you

There are no mandatory qualifications for this role. A qualification in social work, psychology and/or nursing is highly desirable.
