Job summary

Infrastructure People is assisting a leading civil contractor in Sydney to recruit an experienced Preconstruction Manager. You will lead the front-end and tendering function, drive opportunities from review through to contract award, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams across estimators, engineers and commercial staff.

Job description

An established and highly regarded civil contractor is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to lead its front-end project and tendering function.

This is a key leadership position responsible for identifying opportunities, managing the tender pipeline and ensuring projects are properly assessed, priced and planned before transitioning into delivery.

The Role

• Lead the preconstruction and tendering function
• Manage opportunities from initial review through to contract award
• Oversee bid strategy, estimating, programming and tender submissions
• Coordinate estimators, engineers, commercial teams and external partners
• Lead tender reviews, risk assessments and bid/no-bid decisions
• Review construction methodologies, project risks and commercial requirements
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and industry partners
• Identify value-engineering and alternative delivery opportunities
• Ensure a structured handover from preconstruction into project delivery
• Support the continued growth and development of the business

About You

• Proven experience in a Preconstruction Manager, Bid Manager or senior estimating position
• Experience across bulk earthworks, remediation, demolition, roadworks, utilities or associated infrastructure
• Demonstrated experience managing complex tenders from initial opportunity through to award
• Strong commercial understanding and ability to identify project risk
• Confident leading multidisciplinary tender teams
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills
• A practical understanding of project delivery and construction methodology
• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline is preferred
