Job summary

Shoalhaven City Council seeks a Precinct Supervisor to manage daily grounds operations at Artie Smith Oval and SCaRP. You will guide staff in turf and sports ground maintenance, contribute to seasonal planning, and ensure safe operation of equipment.

The role requires a trade certificate in sports turf management, construction safety, and valid licences (MR and Class C), with a track record in sports turf management. On-call availability is expected.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate or equivalent required.
• White Card/Cards for construction safety.
• MR licence and Class C Driver's Licence required.
• Proof of right to work in Australia.
• Experience as a Curator or in Sports Turf Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day operations of the Shoalhaven Community & Recreation Precinct (SCaRP), Artie Smith Oval, Croquet and Indoor Sports Centre grounds.
• Prepare and maintain turf cricket wickets and other sports turf areas, including irrigation maintenance and seasonal changes.
• Be accountable for quality, quantity, and timeliness of work within resource constraints.
• Undertake safe operation of plant and equipment with high accuracy.
• Develop, implement and monitor an annual turf management plan.
• Schedule routine machinery and irrigation maintenance and oversee pest control.

Precinct Supervisor - Artie Smith (SCaRP

• 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday) with a 9-day fortnight
• Located at Artie Smith Oval, Bomaderry

About the Role
This position coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Shoalhaven Community & Recreation Precinct (SCaRP), Artie Smith Oval, Croquet, and Indoor Sports Centre grounds. You will provide supervision and direction to staff performing ground maintenance, greenkeeping, and other operational activities within the Precinct. It also includes:

• Understand and provide service standards consistent with established practices and programs
• Preparation and maintenance of turf cricket wickets and other sports turf areas, including but not inclusive of turf management cultural practices, irrigation maintenance, seasonal changeover activities and general horticultural maintenance
• Be accountable for the quality, quantity and timeliness of work within constraints of available resources for the care of assets
• To undertake safe operation of plant and / or specialist equipment utilising advanced skills to deliver outcomes with a high degree of accuracy
• Develop, implement and monitor an annual turf management plan
• Conduct or schedule all routine machinery and irrigation maintenance
• Monitor and oversee pest control

About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:

• Trade Certificate in Sports Turf Management or Equivalent Qualification
• Current White Card - General Construction Induction Card (Safework NSW)
• MR licence
• Previous experience as a Curator or in Sports Turf Management
• Current Class C Driver's Licence
• Proof of right to work in Australia
