Job summary

Shoalhaven City Council is seeking a skilled tradesperson to build, maintain and improve council building assets. This hands-on role involves supervising up to six employees/contractors and performing carpentry on construction, maintenance, and repair projects to a high standard.

You will assess现场 issues, determine tools and processes, and prepare reports on repairs and costs. A WHS focus and availability for on-call overtime are required.

• Carpentry/Trade technical competence required.

• Strong problem-solving and on-site decision-making skills.

• 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday) with a 9-day fortnight
• Located at Bomaderry Works Depot, McIntyre Way Bomaderry

This hands‑on trade role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, works efficiently, and is committed to delivering projects safely, on time and to a high standard. You'll help construct and maintain Council assets while contributing to

This includes:

• Occasionally coordinate and supervise up to six employees and/or contractors on project site while working as a tradesperson.
• Undertake carpentry and related duties on building construction, maintenance and repair projects and related built infrastructure.
• Assess situations and determine processes, tools and solutions to problems.
• Prepare industry relevant reports such as building assessment reports and vandalism reports with details on repair methods and costing.
• Finish concrete to achieve desired levels with a wide range of finished surfaces including coloured finishes.
• Determine (through experience and a working appreciation of structural engineering) steel reinforcement sizes, laps, bends, spacings, fabric sizes and placement for non-structural concrete when plans are not available.

Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:

• Carpentry Trade Certificate
• 6 Years' experience in the building industry (4year apprenticeship included)
• Class C Driver's Licence
• Current National WHS Construction Card (WorkCover)
• Elevated Work Platform certificate or ability and willingness to obtain
• Asbestos Removal certificate or ability and willingness to obtain
• Chainsaw (crosscut) certificate or ability and willingness to obtain
• Quick cut Saw certificate or ability and willingness to obtain
• Ability to follow defined WHS policies and procedures
• A commitment to undertake relevant workplace training
• Proof of right to work in Australia
