The Opportunity

The Apprentice Sports Turf Management is a 3-year role where you'll get hands-on experience while studying a Certificate III in this field. You'll help keep our sports fields, parks, reserves, cemeteries, and other community spaces looking great and safe for everyone to enjoy.In this role, you'll use and look after equipment like mowers and garden tools, help maintain turf, trees, shrubs, and flower beds, and work alongside experienced staff to learn practical turf and horticulture skills.We're looking for someone who is interested in sports turf management, enjoys working outdoors, and shows commitment through school, study, or past work.If you're ready to get started in this field, we want to hear from you! Successful candidates will be required to:

• Commence employment on Monday, 1 February 2027.
• Complete a pre-employment skills assessment as part of the interview process.
• Undertake a medical assessment that will include a drug and alcohol test, sight and hearing, functional and medical component
• Obtain a General Construction Induction Card (White Card) prior to commencing on 1 February 2027.

What we offer

Salary: Salary range $32,500 to $55,300 in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.Your salary will be determined based on your age, qualifications, and any previous work experience. Superannuation (12%) is additional.Location: MidCoast Council's Taree Depot at 36 Arkwright Crescent, Taree. You will also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure

• 3-year fixed term
• Full-time 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday with a fortnightly rostered day off.
