Job summary

CGC Recruitment is seeking an experienced Pre-Construction / Estimating Manager on a contract basis for a leading commercial fit-out and refurbishment builder in Sydney. The role covers the pre-construction and tendering phase to ensure pricing accuracy and a smooth transition to construction, with immediate start.

You will review tender docs, prepare cost plans, negotiate subs, and develop construction programs while liaising with clients and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating, tendering and/or pre-construction within commercial construction.
• Strong understanding of commercial fit out and refurbishment methodologies.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and services drawings.
• Strong subcontractor and supplier networks.
• Excellent understanding of construction costs and market pricing.
• Experience preparing construction programs.
• Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tenders/projects.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Managing and coordinating the pre-construction process from initial enquiry through to project commencement.
• Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, scopes and specifications.

• Preparing and submitting competitive tender proposals.

• Assisting with handover of successful projects to the construction team.

Pre-Construction / Estimating Manager - Contract Commercial Fit Out & Refurbishment Builder
Immediate Start | Contract Role
We are a well-established commercial fit out and refurbishment builder looking for an experienced Pre-Construction / Estimating Manager to join our team on a contract basis, commencing ASAP.
This is a hands-on role supporting the business through the pre-construction and tendering phase of commercial fit out and refurbishment projects. You will work closely with the directors and project team to ensure projects are accurately priced, well planned and ready for a smooth transition into construction.
The Role Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and coordinating the pre-construction process from initial enquiry through to project commencement
• Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, scopes and specifications
• Preparing detailed project pricing, cost plans and estimates

About You

We are looking for someone with solid experience in commercial construction, ideally across fit out, refurbishment or workplace projects.
You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in estimating, tendering and/or pre-construction within commercial construction
• Strong understanding of commercial fit out and refurbishment methodologies
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and services drawings
• Strong subcontractor and supplier networks
• Excellent understanding of construction costs and market pricing
• Experience preparing construction programs
• Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tenders/projects
• A practical, solutions-focused approach

You don't necessarily need to come from a traditional estimating background - we're open to experienced Project Managers, Construction Managers or Site Managers who have strong commercial and pre-construction experience and want to move into a more tender/pre-construction focused role.
