Job summary

NSW Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant – Pre-Analytical at Kempsey District Hospital. This permanent part-time role offers 12 hours per week and a supportive pathology team.

You will assist with receipt, preparation and processing of specimens, enabling timely diagnostic testing for the local community. Join a friendly lab environment with opportunities for growth, training, and a rotating shift roster, including weekends and nights as required.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Pathology or related field or demonstrated ability to learn pre-analytical tasks.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy lab environment.
• Good communication with colleagues and customers, both internal and external.
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills for routine issues.
• Proficient computer skills with high data accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-analytical duties including specimen reception, triage and registration.
• Prepare specimens and arrange transport or delivery to laboratories for testing.
• Support in maintaining a clean and safe lab environment.
• Assist with general laboratory duties as required.
