Job summary

Shine Lawyers in Melbourne CBD is seeking a Practice Support Lead and Senior Legal Assistant to work with our Public Liability team. You will lead a small legal support group while assisting lawyers on a broad range of Public Liability matters, driving quality service for our clients.

With empathy, initiative and strong drafting skills, you will coach your team, manage day-to-day file operations, and prepare matters for conferences and hearings.

Qualifications

• Experience in personal injury as a legal assistant or paralegal.
• Interest in managing a small team of legal support professionals.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation and legal documentation.

The Opportunity

At Shine, we champion better justice for our clients. And as a permanent Practice Support Lead/Senior Legal Assistant in our Public Liability team based in our Melbourne CBD office, that starts with you. You’ll work closely with our legal team to make a meaningful, long-lasting impact for our clients.

This role will see you leading a small legal support team while supporting lawyers across Public Liability matters, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to take the next step in their career through greater responsibility for client matters and the leadership of a team of your own.

With empathy, adaptability and initiative, you will be a true champion of our clients by:

• Driving client outcomes and performance across a small team of Public Liability paralegals and administration assistants who provide high quality support to our authors.
• Coaching your team to provide exceptional client service using our client service guiding principles, building trusting relationships with clients supporting them throughout their legal journey.
• Setting your team members up for success, supporting them to perform in their role. You will foster a culture of continuous learning and development and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Supporting the Melbourne legal practice manager to achieve their goals which contributes to the overall success of the practice.
• Working with our solicitors to successfully support them with day-to-day operations of files/client management.
• Preparing matters for conference and hearing, including preparation of court and legal documents and general correspondence.
• Using your high attention to detail to draft briefs and documents, such as claim forms and schedule of damages.

What you’ll bring

• Demonstrated experience in personal injury as either a legal assistant or paralegal, with an interest in managing a small team of legal support professionals.
• A strong understanding of, and ability to interpret relevant legislation and legal documentation.
• Enjoy working on legally challenging and factually complex matters.
• A desire to be part of a strong, cohesive team that works together to get great results.
• A commitment to truly connect with those around you and work together to deliver exceptional results for our clients.
• A keen eye for detail in your drafting skills.
• You’ll be a great communicator both verbally and in writing.
• You’ll recognise and value the importance of your role in being the gateway to support our clients
• The availability to work Monday - Friday, 38 hours per week. However, if you're looking for a minimum of four (4) days per week, then let's talk!
