Job summary

Kedron Wavell Medical Centre in Brisbane is seeking a hands-on Practice Manager to lead a close-knit team of GPs, registrars, nurses and admin staff. You will recruit, onboard and coach staff, shape workplace culture and oversee operations, compliance and patient experience.

The role offers full-time autonomy with a GP-led leadership team backing your decisions and flexibility in working arrangements. Competitive salary and superannuation are provided based on experience.

Qualifications

• Proven team leadership in a medical or allied health setting.
• Proficient in recruitment, onboarding and performance conversations.
• Familiar with practice software and MBS billing.
• Calm, clear communication and sound judgement under pressure.

Lead the team at one of Brisbane's most established general practices, 75 years young in 2026.

Some practices come and go. Ours has been caring for Brisbane's northside for three quarters of a century and in 2026, Kedron Wavell Medical Centre celebrates its 75th anniversary. We're a GP-owned, highly sought-after training practice at 232 Gympie Road, Kedron, home to a close-knit team of GPs, registrars, nurses and admin staff who genuinely like working together. Now we're looking for the right person to lead them.

The role

This is a hands-on leadership role for a Practice Manager who loves building great teams, someone who develops people, spots issues before they become problems, and creates the kind of workplace culture staff don't want to leave.

You will:

Lead, roster and support our admin, reception and nursing teams

Own recruitment, onboarding and performance conversations

Build a positive, low-turnover culture people are proud to be part of

Oversee daily operations, compliance and the patient experience

Partner directly with our GP principals and registrars on practice priorities

You’ll bring:

Proven team leadership in a medical or allied health setting

Confidence across the full HR toolkit - recruitment, performance management, conflict resolution

Familiarity with practice software (Best Practice/AMS/Cubiko) and MBS billing

A calm, clear communication style and excellent judgement under pressure

Flexible, friendly, warm and approachable
