Job summary

St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne invites applications for a Clinical Competency Program Practice Development Nurse. This role leads service-wide competency programs, develops educational initiatives, and evaluates outcomes to enhance patient care using evidence-based practice.

The position requires RN1 registration, Bachelor of Nursing, and postgraduate qualifications in clinical education, with travel to multiple campuses as needed.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board with current Practising Certificate.
• Bachelor of Nursing degree.
• Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Advanced Clinical Nursing.
• Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Education (Highly Desirable).
• Strong knowledge of Basic and Advanced Life Support with current qualifications.
• Excellent advanced clinical skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate competency workshops using simulation, face-to-face, online learning platforms and problem-based learning.
• Review existing programs to ensure currency, meet learner needs and remain innovative.
• Actively monitor mandatory training completion and support leaders to maintain targets.
• Ensure documentation and recording for competency programs in collaboration with Administration.
• Manage applications for recognition of prior learning across SVHA.

About the Role

The Clinical Competency Program Practice Development Nurse is responsible for facilitating health service wide Clinical Competency Programs to ensure best practice by providing educational opportunities for clinicians. This will be achieved by developing, facilitating and evaluating competency activities using the principles of evidenced based practice to improve the delivery of patient care.

• Facilitate competency workshops using a variety of education modalities including simulation, face to face, online learning platforms and problem-based learning
• Involved in review of existing programs to ensure they are current, continue to meet the needs of Learners and are innovative
• Actively monitors completion rates for mandatory training across the organisation and proactively supports Leaders from across the organisation to ensure completion remain at acceptable levels throughout the year
• Ensure the appropriate documentation and recording keeping for competency programs in collaboration with the Administration team
• Manage applications for recognition of prior learning from across SVHM

Classification for this position will be RN35 ($128,102 per annum pro rata).

About Education and Learning

St Vincent's provides extensive Education and Learning support and services to staff and students across the health service. The educational team members are based across multiple campuses including Fitzroy, St George's Hospital Kew, St Vincent's on the Park East Melbourne, Caritas Christi Hospice Kew and Port Phillip Prison.

This position will primarily be based at St Vincent's campus in Fitzroy with the expectation of travel to other campuses and health services as required.
