St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba – Melbourne VIC is seeking a Practice Development Nurse to lead Clinical Competency Programs, delivering education and evaluating activities to improve patient care across the health service.
The role requires RN35 registration, nursing degree, and postgraduate certificates in advanced clinical nursing and education, with strong life-support knowledge and education delivery skills. Fixed term, 32 hours per week, Melbourne campus-based.
Qualifications
- Registered in Division 1 with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board and current Practicing Certificate.
- Bachelor of Nursing.
- Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Advanced Clinical Nursing.
- Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Education (Highly Desirable).
- Robust knowledge of Basic and Advanced Life Support with current qualifications in both.
- Advanced clinical skills.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate competency workshops using a variety of education modalities including simulation, face to face, online learning platforms and problem-based learning.
- Involved in review of existing programs to ensure they are current, continue to meet the needs of Learners and are innovative.
- Actively monitors completion rates for mandatory training across the organisation and proactively supports Leaders from across the organisation to ensure completion remain at acceptable levels throughout the year.
- Ensure the appropriate documentation and recording keeping for competency programs in collaboration with the Administration team.
- Manage applications for recognition of prior learning from across SVHM.

The Clinical Competency Program Practice Development Nurse is responsible for facilitating health service wide Clinical Competency Programs to ensure best practice by providing educational opportunities for clinicians. St Vincent’s provides extensive Education and Learning support and services to staff and students across the health service. The educational team members are based across multiple campuses including Fitzroy, St George’s Hospital Kew, St Vincent’s on the Park East Melbourne, Caritas Christi Hospice Kew and Port Phillip Prison.
This position will primarily be based at St Vincent’s campus in Fitzroy with the expectation of travel to other campuses and health services as required.
