Job summary

SM Grid Partners is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to contribute to Australia’s energy transition on high-impact projects. You will join a specialist power systems team delivering network planning, renewable energy and data centre grid connections.

You will lead studies on battery energy storage, solar and wind facilities, working with developers and OEMs, and produce high-quality technical reports and documentation. Full working rights in Australia required.

Qualifications

• A relevant engineering degree with NEM or WEM experience.
• Understanding of power system fundamentals and electricity networks.
• Experience with PSCAD, PSSE or PowerFactory.
• Knowledge of Australian grid codes, guidelines and practices.
• Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.
• Full working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform power system studies including battery energy storage systems, solar farms, wind farms and data centre grid connection projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and perform power system studies including battery energy storage systems, solar farms, wind farms and data centre grid connection projects
• Work closely with developers and OEMs as a trusted technical advisor and delivery partner
• Translate complex technical analyses into practical, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions
• Develop, review, and present high-quality technical reports and engineering documentation

About you

• A relevant engineering degree, with experience in the NEM or WEM
• A sound understanding of power system fundamentals and the operation of electricity networks
• Experience with power system modelling tools such as PSCAD, PSSE or PowerFactory
• A good understanding of relevant Australian grid code, guidelines and practices
• A pragmatic, collaborative approach and strong communication skills
• Full working rights in Australia
