Job summary

Downer Group is seeking a Trades Assistant for Mt Piper Power Station during a major shutdown. You will assist with replacing cooling tower fill packing and support trades personnel while ensuring safe, clean work areas.

The role requires hands-on tools experience, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to work in confined spaces around heavy equipment. Pre-employment medical may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience as Trades Assistant in heavy industry, mining, power generation, construction or shutdown environments.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and housekeeping standards.
• Experience working in confined spaces and around heavy industrial equipment.
• Ability to safely use hand tools and equipment.
• Physically fit for manual handling duties.
• Team player with good communication and a proactive attitude.
• Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical.

Responsibilities

• Assist with replacement of cooling tower fill packing during the shutdown.
• Support trades personnel and maintain safe work areas.
• Uphold high housekeeping standards throughout the project.
• Contribute to the maintenance program within a dynamic team.
